Winna Seefeld Obituary

Winna Loy Freeman Seefeld, age 77
September 12, 1944 - August 22, 2022

Winna was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Marie Stewart Freeman and Myron Freeman. Her parents soon moved back to their home of Laurel, Mississippi where she grew up. She graduated from George S. Gardner High School in 1962 and attended Jones County Junior College, completing the Intensive Business course in 1963. She then began a secretarial career that would begin in that same JCJC program and that would take her to Boeing Aircraft in Huntsville, AL, and then on to many professional experiences in Houston, TX, Louisiana, a couple of times at Mississippi State, Georgia, and all over Mississippi. When her husband became an ordained United Methodist minister in 1983, her career focused on serving as a District Secretary where they were assigned or as secretary to churches nearby.

Winna married her high school sweetheart, Glenn Seefeld, January 30, 1965, and together they made several school, military, and career moves. She continued her college education throughout much of her adult life, taking classes in various places where the family moved, always focusing on her English major. She channeled her love of literature into writing poetry and short stories, her passion in life. Winna and Glenn finally retired in 2013 to a small cabin near McCarley, Mississippi, where she became a fan of bird watching, especially the flocks of geese that settled frequently on the lake, and enjoying views of their peaceful country setting from her porch swing.

Winna was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Glenn, two children - Walter Seefeld (Sue Teal) of Winona,  Ashley Seefeld Lemley (Dell)  of Greenwood; two grandchildren - Payden Seefeld of Starkville and Kaylee Lemley of Greenwood; one great-grandchild - Alexandria Glenn Seefeld of Starkville, a sister - Sue Jones Barr of Clinton and a number of nieces and nephews.
