Mr. William Mayhew Nunley died peacefully May 22, 2026 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS.
He was born November 24, 1945, to H.L. and Margaret “Pie” Nunley. Born and raised in Carrolton, Mississippi he went on to graduate from JZ George High School. Upon graduation, he went on to continue his education at the University of Mississippi where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.
It was after his college graduation that he moved to Memphis, Tennessee and met the love of his life Diane McKenzie Nunley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Lee and Margaret “Pie” Nunley.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diane. Their children Amy (Lee) Stockton, Erica (Richard) McMahon, and Jon (Brook) Nunley. Their grandchildren Megan (Wes), Chance (Katelyn), Shelby, Allie (Connor), Maggie, Branson, and McKenzie Grace. His great grandchildren Layla, Jett, Chloe, and Sawyer (and one more on the way). He also leaves behind Happy and Beau to take care of and protect their mom!
The service will be 3:00 P.M. Monday, May 25th at Carrolton Baptist Church with visitation from 2-3 pm prior to the service. Interment is in Evergreen Cemetery
Pallbearers are Richard McMahon, Chance McMahon, Lee Stockton, Wes Williamson, Connor Pittman, Drew Johnston, Branson Nunley, and Joe Lee, Jr..
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carrolton Baptist Church, Salem Heights Baptist Church (Laurel), or St Jude.
