William Marvin Alderman, 84, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at his home in Greenwood surrounded by his family. Services are 3 P.M. Sunday, May 16 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with Ken Salley officiating. Interment will be at Phillipston Baptist Church Cemetery.
Marvin was born in Carroll County and had been a lifelong resident of the Carroll Leflore County area. He had resided in Phillipston for forty years prior to moving to Greenwood in 2006. He had retired from the US Post Office in Itta Bena, had driven a supply truck for the Farmers Supply Co-Op and early in life had worked for the Greenwood Police Department. Mr. Alderman was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps and was an avid hunter. He was preceded in death by a Brother, Ossie Alderman and a sister, Janie Collins.
He is survived by his wife of 62 1/2 years, Eula Tanksley Alderman; a daughter, Phyllis Elmore (David) of Greenwood; granddaughter Pam G. Horne (Joey) of Sidon; grandson, David Elmore (Dave) of Olive Branch; great grandchildren, James Q. Nielson, Anna Horne (Aaron Wixon), Ashleigh Horne, Jayden Horne and a great-great grandchild, Kayla Grace Wixon all of Sidon.
Pallbearers will be Howard Alderman, James Howard Alderman, Dave Elmore, James Nielson, Spencer Alderman and Don Felts. Honorary pallbearers are Clinton Brown, Jr., Ricky Gibson and Mr. Alderman’s nephews.
