Virginia Sue Thach Hoyt, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at indywood Glen personal care home in Greenwood. Services are 2 P.M. Sunday, June 8 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Dearman officiating. Visitation is from 1-2 prior to the service.
“Jinny Sue” was born to Carl M. and Mary Jane Thach in Greenwood, moved to Vicksburg for a short time and returned to Leflore County where she remained the rest of her years. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Equen plantation, Crossroads Gin, Schlater Gin, the Schlater water association, the tax accessors office and the Melton Law Firm. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John E. Hoyt, Jr., a son Keith Hoyt and a step-son, Mike Hoyt. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Hoyt; two brothers, Cliff Thach (Dee Dee) of C.M. Thach , Jr. (Lisa) of Greenwood; grandchildren, Jordan Bell (Brittany) of Ocean Springs, MS, Kathleen Hoyt of Chicago, Ill, Dillon Hoyt of Pennsylvania; great-granddaughter, Juliette Sutton and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Locus Benedictus.
