William Anthony “Tony” Adams, 77, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services 11:30 Friday, February 2, at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with Rev. Rowland Hall officiating. Interment is in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Visitation is from 9:30-11:30 prior to the service.
Tony was born in Kosciusko to Claude and Nell Stevens Adams, raised in Ethel and graduated as Valedictorian of his class from Ethel High School. He attended Holmes Jr. College and graduated with a degree in accounting from MS State University in 1968. He had worked as a C.P.A. for Arthur Anderson in New Orleans, the Houston Medical Center in Houston, TX and later joined Fred T. Neely and Company in Greenwood as a partner where he worked for nearly fifty years. He was a former member of the Lions Club, served as commissioner for the Baseball league and was an avid MS State sports fan!
He is survived by his wife Debra Lynn Adams, three sons, Kevin Adams (Pam) of Madison, Kelly Adams (Gayla) of Flowood, Justin Kemp (Terri) of Tullahoma, TN; five daughters, Peyton Walker (Tim) of Hernando, Kristi Thweatt (Will) of Brandon, MS, Page McKelvy (Kevin) of Conway, AR, Nicole Preiss (D.J.) of Hattiesburg, Natalie Duckworth (Josh) of Mendenhall; a brother, Terry Adams of Woodberry, GA; a sister, Teresa Brooks (Tony) of Vicksburg and his grandchildren, McKenzie Adams, Mallory Parker (Peyton), Mollie Adams, Karlye Lindsey (Joseph), Katlynne Adams, Aniston Adams, Easton Adams Ellis, Zoe Thweatt, Leah Walker, Kara Walker, Graham Walker, Reid Kemp, Mary McGee Kemp, Emily Preiss, Lizzie Preiss, Camden Duckworth, and Taylor Duckworth, Katy Parker, and Gage Williams.
Pallbearers will be Mark Singleton, Reid Kemp, Chris Cascio, Joey Lindsey, Peyton Parker, Robert Hearn, Bobby VanDevender , Eddie Shute, Camden Duckworth and Taylor Duckworth, Honorary pallbearers are members of the Cotton Row Club, Partners in Spring Lake Timber, LLC, Spring Lake Lot Owners, Raymond Terrell, Gene Myatt, Charlie Sykes and Mike Ellis.
Memorials may be made to the Palmer Home for Children, French Camp Academy, and the Mississippi State Bulldog Initiative!
