Barbara Suzanne Smith McIntyre, 86,passed away Friday evening, August 11, 2023, at Indywood Glen Personal Care Home in Greenwood. Funeral services are 11 A.M. Tuesday August 15 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Andrew Chaney officiating. Visitation is from 10-11 A.M. in the church parlor prior to services. Interment is in Evergreen Cemetery
Suzanne was born and raised in Greenwood, graduated from Greenwood High School and attended MS State College for Women. She worked for a number of years as the administrative assistant to Mayor Louis Fancher and later as a designer for The John Richard Company. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, the Night Circle Women’s Bible study group, member of the Greenwood Junior Auxiliary, the Greenwood Garden Club and the Town and Country Garden Club. She had also been a member of the Greenwood Tree Board overseeing the protection of Greenwood’s beautiful oak trees.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents Robert Eugene Smith and Eloise Haley Smith Middleton, and her brother Haley Smith. She is survived by her son, Innes Thornton McIntyre IV (Mitzi) of Montgomery, AL; three daughters, Mary Haley Flautt ( Henry) of Greenwood, Mandy Robertson (Ray) of Madison, MS, and Millie Vemer (Mark) of Greenwood; brother, Bobby Smith (Ann) of Greenwood; She was also immensely proud of and loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren ;Matt McIntyre ( Brooke) and Fletcher McIntyre of Montgomery, Alabama, Caroline Nichols (Hayden), Russell McIntyre and Katie McIntyre all of Auburn, Alabama, Chase McIntyre, Hardy Vemer and Mia Cole of Greenwood, Mississippi, Reece Robertson (Aleks) , Katherine Russell (Jon Brighton) and Suzanne Wilson ( Alex) of Jackson, Mississippi, Mary Steele Mock ( Dylan) and David Robertson of Dallas, Texas, and Walker Robertson ( Anna Louise) of Houston, Texas.
Pallbearers are her grandsons and sons-in-law, Henry Flautt, Jr., Ray Robertson, Mark Vemer, Reece Robertson, Walker Robertson, David Robertson, and Hardy Vemer, and grandsons-in-law Jon Brighton Russell, Alex Wilson, and Dylan Mock.
The family wishes to offer a special word of thanks to all of the caring staff at Indywood Glen in Greenwood.
