Shirley Box McCaleb, 84, passed away into the arms of her Lord on Friday, May 15th, 2026. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 19th from 1 – 2:30 pm at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service at Itta Bena Cemetery at 3:00 pm. Rev. Phillip Dearman will officiate.
Shirley was born in Greenwood to Lois and Haven Box. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert McCaleb, her parents, sister Diana Randle, brothers Johnny and Jimmy Box and grandson Lee Brunson. Shirley spent her early years raising her small children and transitioned into sales in her later years. She was an avid camper and loved being on the lake with her family and friends. She also had a passionate love of music and played piano at her church for years. She and her husband owned a furniture store in Yazoo City for 9 years and when they closed that store, she worked for McCaleb Furniture in Greenwood for many years. She was also a sales associate for Belk in the beauty department, for which she excelled.
She is survived by her daughter, Melanie McCaleb Brunson of Greenwood, son Bobby McCaleb (Dixie) of Vaughan, MS, youngest son, John McCaleb (Misty) of Brandon, MS, and a sister Cindy Booker (Brian) of McKinley, TX. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
Pallbearers will be Will Brunson, Trey Tupman, Powell McCaleb, Haven McCaleb, Mason McCaleb and Adam Black. Honorary Pallbearers are Josh Tupman, Michael Tupman, Baylor McCaleb, Jonathan Gaskamp and Davis Black.
Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
