Shirley Lott Obituary

Greenwood, MS: Mrs. Shirley Lott, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021, at her home in Greenwood. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood with Interment following at Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton, MS. Dr. Andrew Chaney will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of the service on the day of the funeral in the Parlor at First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Lott was a born in Carroll County and a resident of Greenwood for the last 69 years. As a 1955 graduate of Greenwood High School, she immediately began her work career with Wade, Inc. formerly known as Wade Hardware. Mrs. Lott was blessed with a lifetime opportunity with Wade, Inc. working in a number of capacities for almost 65 years, with the last 7 years serving as Secretary-Treasurer of the Board of Directors. She often referred to all the farmers and friends at Wade, Inc. as part of her family.

Mrs. Lott was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood for 63 years, serving as both an Elder and Deacon for two terms. She was active in the Presbyterian Women and received the Honorary Lifetime Member Award in 2001.

Having fought Breast Cancer, Mrs. Lott was a Cancer Survivor, and served as both a Relay for Life Chairman, and worked as a Survivor Counselor. She was recognized for a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Cancer Society.

For many years after her retirement, she was active working with both the Community Food Pantry and the Salvation Army board. She believed in bearing a Christian witness, and gave freely to many organizations in the community.

In 2000, she was chosen into “The Delta’s Top 75 Women in Business” by the Mississippi Department of Economic and Community Development.

Mrs. Lott was preceded in death by her husband, T.W. Lott, Jr., a daughter, Shirley Laverne Lott, a sister, Dorothy Switzer and a brother, James “Pete” Cox.

Mrs. Lott is survived by a daughter, Judy Lynn Lott of Grenada and two sons; T.W. “Timmy” Lott III (Amy) of Seven Pines, and James Howard “Jimmy” Lott of Greenwood. She was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren, Ashley Scott (Solon), Meagan Austin (Andy), Kelli Stainback (Andrew),  Morgan Lott all of Greenwood, MS, and Brooke Logan of Tupelo, MS, Mary Holly Lott and Kathleen Lott of Brandon, MS, James Howard Lott, Jr. (Hannah) of Searsmont, ME, Trey Peden (Christy) from Richland, MS, and Joshua Morgan of Grenada and 12 great-grandchildren, Drew, Graycen, and Landon Austin, Marley, Mac, and Mikey Lott, Addyson and Ella Rae Peden, Ava and Solon Scott, Eliza Jane and Laura Stainback.

Pallbearers are: Solon Scott, III, Andy Austin, Andrew Stainback, James Howard Lott, Jr., Trey Peden, Joshua Morgan, Mark Andrew Austin, Jr. and Solon Scott IV.

Throughout her illness, Shirley Lott was loved and cared for in her home by many lifetime friends, Dorothy Ivory Perkins, Shirley Ivory, Helen Ivory, and Earline Robertson.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Buildings and Grounds Fund, or to the Community Food Pantry.
