Sandra Vaughan Joiner

Sandra Vaughan Joiner, 71, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. Funeral services are 11 A.M. Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Harper, Rev. Ricky Wheat and Rev. Richard Owens officiating.  Interment is in Itta Bena Cemetery.  Visitation is from 9-11 A.M. prior to the service

Sandra was born in Greenwood to Thomas Eugene and Bobbie Chrismond Vaughan.  She was raised in Itta Bena, graduated from Leflore County High School and attended MS Delta Community College. Sandra  worked in the office at Pillow Academy for 17 years and later worked as an administrative assistant at MS Delta Community College where she retired in 2019.

Mrs. Joiner was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Itta Bena where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Over 60’s Sr. adult group.  She was a great cook and was famous for her caramel cakes, divinity, and sausage pin wheels.  Most of all she loved being a “CeeCee” to her two granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert Joiner, a son, Rob Joiner (Amber) of Greenwood; a brother, Thomas E. Vaughan, Jr. of Yazoo City; a sister, Sue Lynn Bowlin of Greenwood, sister- in -law Norma Carpenter of Greenwood, and two granddaughters, Camryn Jean Joiner and Anne Thomas Joiner both of Greenwood.

Pallbearers will be J.D. Brasel, Ray Brasel, Barry Makamson, Bubba Nix, Bo Nix and Glenn “Goonie” Carpenter.  Honorary pallbearers are Marc Archer, Matt Avant, Warren Jones, Larry Kelly, Jr., and Bradley Kelly.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Itta Bena, the American Cancer Society or the charity of donor’s choice.
