Ruby Cole Obituary

Ruby Mae Sewell Cole passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in Greenwood, MS at the age of 79.  She was born in Maysville, KY on March 14, 1940.

 

Mrs. Cole was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood and served on the Flower Guild Committee. She was also a member of Greenwood Garden Club, Greenwood Junior Auxiliary, Delta Cotton Wives, Southern Debutante Assembly, and Explorers Bible Study. 

 

Mrs. Cole is survived by a daughter, Katherine Ann Cole; two sons, James Pierce “Jim” Cole, III and wife Phaedre Whittington Cole, and Robert Sewell Cole and wife Angie Horne Cole; nine grandchildren, Andrew Wade Evans and wife Mary Margaret Leflore Evans, James Howard Evans, Alexandria Katherine Evans, Sumner Elizabeth Cole, James Pierce Cole, IV, William Garrard Cole, Mia Elizabeth Cole, Marion Micah Crick, and Olivia Sloan Crick; and one great-granddaughter, Ellen Leflore Evans; a sister, Anne Sewell Williamson; and two nieces and nephews.

 

Mrs. Cole is preceded in death by her husband, James Pierce “Jimmie” Cole, Jr. and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Elon Sewell. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to all of her family. 

 

Services will be Sunday, April 28 at 3:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, Greenwood, followed by the burial at McNutt Cemetery in Schlater, MS.  Visitation will be at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church prior to the services.  Dr. Rusty Douglas will officiate the services.  Pallbearers are Bill Crump, J.W. King, Hal Shaw, Henry Flautt, McLeod Meek, Jody Muirhead, Stephen Pillow and Aubrey Falls.  Honorary pallbearers are Charles Peel, Bob Knight, Dexter Walcott, Mickey Black, Johnny Henson, Bill Brown, Tommy Muirhead, and Thad Wilkes.  Greenwood Delta Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
