Coila; Rubert McCoy Phillips, 77, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services are 11 A.M. Monday, December 30 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with interment in Shute Cemetery. Rev. Larry Edwards will officiate. Visitation is from 9-11 prior to the service.
Rubert was born in Carroll County, MS to Lewis and Wilodyne Phillips. He worked for many years for Jones Transportation and J & N Trucking. He was a lifelong resident of Carroll County and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved to deer hunt. Rubert was preceded in death by his parents, a step-son; Joe Higginbotham, and a brother; Jimmy Phillips.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Deborah Vaughn Phillips, a daughter; Nickie Harrison (Brock) of Brandon, son; Robert “Timmy” Phillips (Faye) of Vaiden, MS, Step-daughter; Stephanie Wiggins of Mobile, AL, Step-Son; Allen Higginbotham (Amy) of Greenwood, MS, a sister; Beverly Watts (Ernie) of Black Hawk, and his grandchildren; Mason Phillips, Matthew, Tannah, JoJo Higginbotham, Anthony Williams, Chris McNeer, Brittany Williams and Mikki Kitchens and 13 Great-Grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, New Hope Baptist Church or the charity of donor’s choice.
