Roy D. Goss

Roy D. Goss, 79, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.  Services are 11 A.M. Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with interment in Odd Fellows East Cemetery.  Rev. Tim Winters will officiate.  Visitation is from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday and from 10-11 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Roy was born in Carroll County to J. M. and Violet Harper Goss.  He resided most of his life in Leflore and Carroll Counties.  He worked for 31 years for National Picture Frame as a distribution superintendent and later for six years at Viking Range Corp.  He was an active member of North Park Church of God for over 60 years where he served in numerous capacities including Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and treasurer. 

Mr. Goss was a meticulous craftsman and enjoyed using his skills for woodworking and restoring antique vehicles.  He attended numerous car shows where he showed his restorations.  He also enjoyed fishing.  Mostly he loved time with family especially his grandchildren and great grand-children.

Roy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Josephine Goss; two daughters, Teresa Reeves of Oxford, Deanna Thompson (Tracy) of Tupelo; two sisters, Diane Temple (David) and Cynthia Wood both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Richard Goss (Helen) of Vicksburg, Herbert Goss (Sandra) of Booneville, MS; four grandchildren, Amber Appel (Steve), Christopher Reeves (Mary Beth), Celeste McCoy (Clay) and Madison Minga all of Oxford; and seven great-grandchildren, Natallie McCoy, Brayleigh Reeves, Reed McCoy, Oliver Appel, Avery Reeves, Josie McCoy, and Andi Rose Reeves.

Pallbearers will be John Williamson, Anthony Williamson, Jay Martin, Byron O’Bryant and Glen “Goonie” Carpenter.  Honorary pallbearers are James Carpenter, C. T. Goss, Jr., Norton Moore, Calvin Stevens and Ron Stafford.
