Rowell Billups Saunders was born on January 7th 1952, in Greenwood, Mississippi. He died March 2nd, 2025, in his home in Fairhope, Alabama.
Rowell is survived by his son Bill Saunders and his daughters Mary Alleta and Sloan Saunders.
Rowell graduated from Mississippi State University where he was an active member of Sigma Chi.
He attended The Church of the Nativity Episcopal Church in Greenwood for many years where he enjoyed being a lay reader.
Throughout his life, Rowell wore many hats and had many interests. In his professional life, Rowell was a Certified Financial Analyst, a stockbroker, a banker, a business owner of a car service center, a farmer, and an entrepreneur. He was a Gold Medalist on the US Olympic Shooting Team in 1994.
Rowell was President of the Northwest Mississippi Girl Scouts of America Council as well as a 32nd degree Mason.
Rowell was a great story teller, a true Renaissance Man, and a world traveler. He will be remembered as a loving father and a caretaker to all of his children. Rowell was a devoted friend who loved entertaining. He was always ready to have a good time and determined to enjoy life to the fullest.
Funeral Services will be held at the Church of the Nativity at 1:00 PM on March 8th, 2025. Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Elks Lodge on Sgt. John A. Pittman Drive from 2:30 to 5:00 PM.
