Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” Parker, 73, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022 at his home in Greenwood. Funeral services are 11 A.M. Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Phillips officiating. Visitation is from 10-11 A.M. prior to the service.
Ronnie was born in Vardaman, moved to Greenwood at a young age and graduated from Greenwood High School. He worked at Parker Electric for many years and Ferguson Williams where he retired after 20 years of service. He loved deer and turkey hunting and bass fishing. He enjoyed taking his sons and grandsons hunting and fishing too. Ronnie spent the last 10 years of his life dedicated to two things. His wife of 47 years and serving his Lord and savior by serving his church at North Greenwood Baptist.
Ronnie would invite many of his friends to church and planted and watered many seeds in his later years. He enjoyed the seemingly small things in life. Having breakfast with his friends at the coffee shop, getting to hug on his grandkids and watching Gods hand at work on many a sunrise while experiencing his creation with Glenn Hitt, his friend of 54 years. He loved Atlanta Braves and Miss. State baseball and was thrilled when they both won the World Series in the same year. He never wanted the light to be on him. He was always working to shine it on others. Whether cooking fish for a large group, baiting hooks for kids or taking care of his bride. He truly had a servant’s heart. He will be greatly missed. He is without a doubt forever home with his Heavenly Father.
Preceded in death by his mom and dad, Rex and Sue Parker and his sister Sandra Pittman.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Gammill Parker; two sons, Ron Parker (Stacey) of Eads, TN, Matthew Parker (Jennifer) of Hernando, MS and five grandchildren; Jackson Parker, Jameson Parker, Caden Parker, Luke Parker and Noah Parker.
Glenn Hitt and the Men’s ministry of North Greenwood Baptist church will be honorary pallbearers.
