Peggy Fitts Jackson Slatten, 86, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenwood. Funeral services are 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 8, with Dr. Jim Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Moorhead cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30-11 Tuesday prior to the service.
Peggy was born in Moorhead to Lois E. and Gertrude Melton Fitts. She graduated from Morgan City High School and attended Delta State University. She married Charles W. Jackson, and they had three sons together. After his death she would later marry Arthur Slatten. They were involved with building homes and later owned and operated a janitorial supply business and mini storage business. After his passing, she and her son, Chuck continued to operate the businesses until her retirement. She was a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church and the Lydia Sunday School Class.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles W. Jackson, husband Rev. Arthur Slatten, and a son, Michael Jackson. She is survived by two sons, Charles W. “Chuck” Jackson, III (Kathy) of Greenwood, Greg Jackson (Lee) of Brandon; Grandchildren, Mallory Finn (Colin) of Nashville, TN, Elizabeth Jackson of Ocean Springs, Christopher Jackson of Brandon; great-grandchildren, Jack Finn and Hudson Finn of Nashville and two sisters, Elois Holman of Grenada and Virgie Overstreet of Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Les Holman, David Holman, Charles Buford, Jeff Dunn, Colin Finn, and Christopher Jackson.
Memorials may be made to North Greenwood Baptist Church or the charity of donor’s choice.
