Mary Patricia Makamson Peacock, 78, affectionately known to her family and friends as “Patsy and Lala” passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at her home with her loving family by her side. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 14 at Wood Springs Baptist Church cemetery near Stewart, MS. Dr. Jim Phillips will officiate.
Patsy was born to Otis and Corrie Nail Makamson in Marks, MS and had been a longtime resident of Greenwood. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and follower of Jesus Christ. She spent 32 years in banking, starting as a “runner” with Leflore Bank and retiring as Vice President of First Federal Savings and Loan. She was a faithful member of North Greenwood Baptist Church where she volunteered as the church librarian and was also a member of L.L.L. and the Lydia Sunday School Class. Patsy was the treasurer of the Community Food Pantry for over 20 years, was a Jaycette and her hobbies included playing bunko and bridge.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Wayne; daughter, Dyanne Ray (Johnny) of Jackson; son, Jason Peacock (Robin) of Madison; sister, Joyce Randall of Stewart; brother, Wayne Makamson of Greenwood: and five grandchildren; Gage Ray (Logan) of Memphis; Corrie Ray of Memphis; Jake Ray of Jackson; Elizabeth Peacock and Drew Peacock both of Madison.
Pallbearers will be Gage Ray, Jake Ray, Drew Peacock, Tommy Ellett, Rodney Sanders, Ronnie Moss, Clint Hollis and Mac Alford. Honorary pallbearers George Jeffords, Jr. and members of the Lydia Sunday School Class.
