Nina Thompson Hays, 91 passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Country Meadow Personal Care Home in Greenwood. Graveside services are 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 4 at the North MS Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael. Visitation is 4-6 P.M. Monday, November 3, at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home.
Nina was born on November 1, 1933, in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi to the late Joseph Oyett and Virginia Anthony Thompson. She was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church and loved reading, gardening, cooking and being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nina is survived by her husband of 68 years, George Hays; three daughters, Virginia Butschek (Michael), Brenda McCaleb, and Donna Bagwell (Ricky); two sisters, Faye Thompson Clark of Sardis, MS, Mavis Thompson King of Yelm, WA; brother , Corley Thompson of Scobey, MS; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Other than her parents, Nina was preceded in death by seven sisters, Daisy Bell Thompson Joyner, Draper Mae Thompson Odom, Dotsy Thompson Joyner, Hilda Thompson Russell, Mildred Thompson Gordon, Joan Thompson Sharp and Jetty Thompson Whitsell; brother, Joseph Preston Thompson; grandchildren, Ryan Lee Bagwell and Dawn Claire Bagwell.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Country Meadow Personal Care Home, Danny and Rebecca Edwards and the staff at Vital Caring Hospice.
