Monroe Hobson Obituary

Monroe Ray “Bubba” Hobson, 76, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026, at his home in Carroll County. Services are 11 A.M. Tuesday, June 9 at the North MS Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael.

Bubba was born in Swiftown to Johnny and Pearlie Kelly Hobson. After school hejoined the US Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. After his service to our Country, he returned home and worked for several years for the forestry commission before forming his own construction company, Hobson Construction. He was an avid crappie fisherman, deer hunter, die-hard New Orleans Saints fan and had a love for classic car restoration.

Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Mamie Boutte, Sadie Campbell, Lynn Powell, Betty Henderson, Lester Hobson, Carlton Hobson, James Hobson and a grandson, Bradley Hodge. He is survived by his wife, Shelia Crane Hobson; daughters Gina Hodge (Michael) and Stephanie Patterson (Joe) of Poplar Bluff, MO; Lori Harmon; Valeri Watts (Bobby) of Pontotoc; son, Chad Hobson of Greenwood; brothers, Clayton Hobson (Olivia), Jack Hobson, Earl Hobson (Peggy), sister, Janie Morgan all of Greenwood; grandchildren, Dillon Hodge, Collin Hodge, Jack Patterson, Lexie Hobson, C.C. Costilow and fiancé Chance Witt, Ryan Watts, Anna Crane Watts and several great grandchildren.

Memorials May be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
