Michael Don Johnson

Michael  Don “Mike” Johnson, 69, passed away December 19, 2024 at his home in the Seven Pines Community of Carroll County.

Mike was born in Poteau, Oklahoma, February 27, 1955 to Donald and Melva Hughes Johnson.  He grew up and was educated in Oklahoma and had been a Greenwood resident for over forty-five years.  He spent two years with the Department of Correction and two years with the Leflore County Sheriff’s Department and thirty- two years with the Greenwood Police Department.  He started as a patrolman and retired as a chief Detective. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley Winstead Johnson; one daughter, Lisa Sivley (Danny) Hattiesburg; one son Everett Kuykendall of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Will Everett (Denise) of Greenwood, Clinton Kuykendall (Taylor) of Greenwood, Katie Sivley of Hattiesburg, Kros Sivley of Hattiesburg; and two great grandchildren Luke Kuykendall of Greenwood and Barrett Kuykendall of Greenwood, MS.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
