Margie C. Smith, 96, passed away December 26, 2025 at Indywood Glen personal care home in Greenwood. Visitation will be 10-11:30 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home prior to the service. Graveside services will be at 12 noon, January 6, 2026, at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Margie was born in Greenwood to Richard L. and Elizabeth Baglan Clarke and was a lifelong resident of Greenwood. She graduated from Greenwood High School and worked for the Sheriff and Tax Collectors’ office and worked as a teller for the Bank of Commerce and Trustmark. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was a loving mother who enjoyed cooking for her family and having them around her table.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Smith, Jr, as well as her parents, and her siblings. She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Mitchell (David) of Greenwood, Margaret “Sissy” Burnham of Diamondhead, MS, Linda Ahlberg (Ted) of San Antonio, TX; two sons, George Smith, III (Janis) of Oakgrove, MS, Clarke Smith of Greenwood; a sister, Pat Chassaniol of Greenville, SC; nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Her grandsons and great- grandsons will serve as her pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of donor’s choice.
The family wishes to offer a special word of thanks to the staff of Indywood and her sitters, Emma Howard, Denise Greenleaf, Debra Addison, Paris Greer, and Kizzy Puller, for all their love and care throughout the years.
