Mall Wa Chong

Mall Wa Chong, 71, also known as Mary Yee, passed away peacefully Friday, September 30, 2022 at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.  She was a resident of Clinton Township, Michigan.   The Lord welcomes her home.

Graveside services are Wednesday, October 19 at 3:30 P.M. at Odd Fellows Cemetery with Rev. James Cheatham officiating.

Mary was born February 2, 1951 to Yee Pon Chong and Ging Yong Yee.  As a proud Chinese-American she preferred to speak Cantonese Chinese but also spoke English very well.

As a child Mary contracted polio but with the help of her parents she was able to develop her physical mobility and overcame her disability to the point where she could live independently.

Mary was known to have a strong will, love of family, a joyful outlook and a smile towards all.  In fact, she never met a stranger and had many close friends in her community.  She loved helping those in her local community and translate Chinese to English.  She displayed all of her extraordinary qualities as she took care of her parents in their later years with dedication and helped them maintain a good quality of life through several illnesses.

Mary spent her free time shopping at local stores, enjoying Chinese food and occasionally traveling with family or friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister May Wong and her brother You Kang Yee. She is survived by seven nieces and nephews; Mailing Shao, Raymond Wong, Wlburn Wong, Lyling Spoone, Sueling Wong, Lilac Yee, Andrew Yee and many more great nieces and nephews.  She is also fondly remembered by the many in her community whose lives she touched.
