Larry was born in Grenada to Lawrence and Beulah Vick Crawford.  As a child, he had a newspaper route and served popcorn at the drugstore in Grenada.  In high school he worked at Morgan and Lindsey Department store and Juchheim’s auto repair.  After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and entered machinist school in Great Lakes and later transferred to Charleston, SC.  He served for a year and a half on the destroyer, USS Robertson, and later was reassigned to the reserves.

After his military career he returned home to Grenada to work and married Rhea Carroll Ley in 1964 and remained in love for 56 years.  They moved to Jackson where he worked for Hankins Air service at the Jackson airport.  Thru a contact he became involved with Hinds Business Machines which ultimately led him to Morris Office Machines in Greenwood which he co-owned with Tommy Lindsey for many years.  They serviced the vast majority of the MS Delta with office supplies, furniture and equipment for many years until they sold the company.  After retirement he became a repair/handyman which he found much pleasure in as he loved woodworking as a hobby.  While Larry and Rhea were attending First Presbyterian Church, they were involved in a lot of volunteer work which led to the church offering him the position of Building and Grounds supervisor which he continued until his passing.  Larry also had a passion for golf which led him to developing many lasting friendships with other area golfers. Larry had a great devotion to his God, his church, and especially his wife and family
