Larry Kelly Obituary

Obituary for Larry Wayne Kelly
November 18, 1949 – November 16, 2025

Larry Wayne Kelly, 75, of Greenwood, Mississippi went home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2025. As a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church, Larry was a devoted Christ-follower who never shied away from sharing his love of Jesus with others. A lifelong Mississippian with a generous heart and an unwavering devotion to family, Larry leaves behind a legacy defined by kindness, hard work, and quiet strength.

Born on November 18, 1949, Larry grew up in Inverness, where he cultivated a deep love for the people and the traditions that shaped him. He graduated from Leflore County High School as a very active multi-sport athlete and after attending Mississippi Delta Community College, he continued to root for the Ole Miss Rebels throughout his life. Larry also served proudly in the US Army Reserves and received his honorable discharge in 1978.

After working several years at Henderson & Baird, he successfully operated his own commercial refrigeration business throughout the region. Known for his steady demeanor and quick wit, Larry was the kind of man others trusted — someone who listened more than he spoke, showed up when it mattered, and worked with integrity in everything he did.

Larry’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who celebrated every milestone, large or small. His home was a place of welcome, where stories were shared, laughter came easily, and no one ever left hungry. Whether offering advice, fixing what was broken, or simply enjoying a hot cup of coffee, Larry brought warmth and reassurance to those around him.

He is survived by a number of close family members. Larry’s beloved wife of 56 years, Jennifer, and his children Angela (married to Eddie Fancher), Monica (married to Mitch Morris), and Larry Wayne Jr. will forever carry his memory in their hearts, along with his five grandchildren, Mattie Grace Morris, Zach Fancher, Mitchell Morris, Trayce Kelly, and James Hadden Kelly. He is also survived by sister-in-law Peggy Kelly and cousin Ralph Kelly. Larry was preceded in death by cherished loves ones, including his parents, Rex and Mable Kelly, as well as his brothers, Rex Jr, Terry, Jimmy, and Fred, and a number of treasured nephews.

A funeral service celebrating Larry’s life will be held in Greenwood at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home at 11 AM Thursday November 20, with Dr. Jim Phillips officiating.  Interment is in Odd Fellows Cemetery.  Visitation begins at 9 AM. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather, remember, and honor a man whose presence made their world a better place.

Larry Wayne Kelly’s life was a testament to humility, loyalty, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Fancher, Mitch Morris, Mitch Williams, Zach Fancher, Mitchell Morris, Trayce Kelly, Wayne Kelly, and Matt Kelly.  Honorary pallbearers are James Hadden Kelly, Ralph Kelly, Morgan Fancher, Trent Fancher, and Cole Fancher.
