Karen Barger, 65, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Wednesday, March 20 at the Greenwood Delta Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jim Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows East Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-2:45 P.M. prior to the funeral.
Karen was born in Greenwood to Charles and Dorothy Turner. She graduated from Greenwood High School and received her nursing degree from MS Delta Community College.
Karen impacted the lives of many in her nursing career, weekly Bible studies, and Sunday school classes. Her love for the Lord and family was evident in her daily life. On December 31, 1978, Karen married the love of her life, David Barger, whom she shared 45 happy years. She was blessed with two daughters and two precious grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Karen is survived by her husband, David, two daughters, Christian Barger of Ridgeland, Cemper McGarrh (Chase) of Greenwood; adopted in love daughter, Kara White of Holcomb; a brother, Charlie Turner (Karen) of Brandon; two sisters, Tricia McGaugh (Wesley) of Greenville, Debi Burrell (Taylor) of Cleveland; beloved family member, Lora Shelton and two grandchildren, Grayden McGarrh and Adley Grace McGarrh both of Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Chase McGarrh, Turner McGaugh, Brett Burrell, Bobby Dobbins, Trey Turner, Jared Lang, Trey Turner and Tayden Burrell.
