Julian Carroll, 80, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at his home in Avalon surrounded by his family. Funeral services are 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 6 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with interment to follow in Moore’s Memorial Cemetery. Dr. Jim Phillips will officiate. Visitation is from 1:00-3:00 prior to the service.
Julian was born in Natchez, MS to Normie D and Oma Delois Carroll. He grew up in Jackson, graduated from Central High School and attended MS State University on a golf scholarship. He was a general contractor and owner of R & T Company in Greenwood for forty years. His company built many state parks, building, and football fields around the South. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Julian is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Julie Ann Fratesi, and a sister Madeline Taylor. His is survived by his wife, Donna Turner Carroll; his daughters, Rhonda Carroll Carver of Greenwood, Tracy Carroll Moore (Scotty) of Meridian, Jenni “Ginny” Draper (Abe) of Brandon; a sister, Brenda Huebner (Redd) of Greenwood; two brothers, Don Kenneth Carroll of Madison, Danny Earl Carroll of Springtown, TX; six grandchildren, Blake Mcbrayer, Mason McBrayer, Gracie McBrayer, Justice Mcglothin, Charlie Draper, and Briggs Draper; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who he adored.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Travis Huebner, Zack Ellis, Troy Ellis, Ken Carroll, Rodger Gardner, Larry Gardner, Dave Kelly and Abe Draper.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of donor’s choice.
