Joy Anne Wilson Jenkins, 72, passed away suddenly at her home Tuesday, July 7, 2020. Funeral services are 10 A.M. Saturday, July 11 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with interment in Itta Bena Cemetery. Dr. Scott Wright will officiate. Visitation is Friday evening from 5-8 P.M. at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home.
Joy was born to A. J. and Lena Babb Wilson in Missouri, attended College at Murray State University in Kentucky and MS Delta Community College in Moorhead. In her early twenties she met and married Carl “Bubba” Jenkins and moved to Leflore County where she remained for the next fifty years. She was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, the Greenwood Garden Club and was a life member of the Junior Auxiliary. She taught aerobics, modeled for local boutiques, was an avid tennis player and would ride her bike for 10 miles a day.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Carl “Bubba” Jenkins. Survivors include two daughters, Amy Holiman and her husband Jesse of Cypress, TX and Emily Cheatham and her husband Jay of Goodman, MS; one brother, Jimmy Wilson and his wife Kathy of Oak Ridge, LA; and five grandchildren, Meg Crocker, Molly Crocker, and Wilson Crocker all of Madison, MS, Jackson Ellis and Haskin Cheatham of Goodman, MS.
Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852, St. John’s United Methodist Church or the charity of donor’s choice.
