John Wayne Busby, Sr., 70, known by his friends and family as “John Wayne” died in his sleep at home on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Graveside services are 11 A.M. Wednesday, April 3 in McCarley Cemetery with Rev. Rupert Ingram officiating.
John Wayne was born in Tallahatchie County, MS to James Lofton and Louise Sapp Busby. He started working at a very young age on area farms and later worked for J.J. Ferguson for over 20 years as a bulldozer operator. He loved to hunt but more than anything else he loved to fish.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jincy Catherine Busby, a son, John Wayne Busby, Jr. his parents, two sisters, and a brother. He is survived by a daughter, Beverly Williamson (Joseph) of Coila; three sons, Anthony Busby of McCarley, William Busby (Tonya) of Van Buren, AR, Fulton Busby of McCarley; two sisters, Paula Johnston of Benton, MS, Mary Miller of Moorhead; two brothers, James L Busby, Jr. of McCarley, Edward Busby (Ashley) of Kosciusko; Five grandchildren, James Williamson of Coila, John Williamson of Coila, Anthony Hauser, Kyle Ferguson and Sara Bearden all of Van Buren AR and a great grand son John David Williamson, Jr. of Coila.
