Jimmy Lynn Long, 78, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at Riverview Nursing Home in Greenwood. Funeral services are 2 P.M. Sunday, December 8 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Gossett officiating. Visitation is from 1-2 Sunday prior to the service.
A native of Morgan City, Jimmy grew up in Greenwood attended Greenwood High School, graduated from Chamberlain Hunt Military Academy in Port Gibson and attended Mississippi State University his freshman year in college. At his father’s request, Jimmy stepped in to take over the family business, Long & Chambless Plumbing, which he operated for over 30 years. He was an active member of the Jaycees, serving in numerous capacities including club president. He had also served in the US Army National Guard. Jimmie was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to ride motor cycles, hunt, and especially go deep sea fishing. Mr. Long was preceded in death by his parents; Buck and Earlene Long, two brothers; Ricky Log and Forrest Long and a brother-in-law; Roger Clanton, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda Medlin Long, one sister; Mary Frances Parkerson of McComb, MS, a sister-in-law; Breneda Clanton of Greenwood, three nieces; Angie Medrow (Keith) of Logan, NM, Rebecca Maggiotto (Michael) of Indianapolis, IN, Gene Luke (Jeff) of Columbus, MS, two nephews; Michael Parkerson of McComb, MS, Rhyine Long (Carrie) of Oxford, MS and numerous friends whom he considered family.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Cascio Tony Adams, Bruce Parham, Buddy White, Roger Clanton, III, and Rhyine Long.
