Greenwood, MS: James H. “Jim” Geeslin passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Funeral services are 2 P.M. Friday, February 7, 2020 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home. Rev. Collin Montgomery will officiate. Visitation is from 1-2 prior to the service.
Jim was born to James Roy and Dehlia Cobb Geeslin in Edison, Georgia. He served in the
Army from July 1960 to June 1963. He worked for many years as an Electronics Technician for the FAA in various cities. He moved to Greenwood in 1995 and worked at Greenwood Leflore Airport. After official retirement, Jim kept busy serving the community and others.
Mr. Geeslin was a very active member of First Baptist Church where he served as deacon, sang in the choir, helped with VBS, and served in the nursery. He also gave countless hours of time and energy to the youth ministry. Jim was an original member of Our Father’s Street Puppet Ministry where he has served for 23 years.
Jim was instrumental in the renovation of the facilities which now are home to Delta Streets Academy. He also went on various mission trips with Carpenters for Christ and worked many hours serving at Big Heart Orphanage in Reynosa, Mexico.
Jim is survived by his wife, Elise Geeslin, a daughter, Jerri Geeslin, and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Johnson, Bob Givens, Watson Pillow, Bubba DeLoach, Collier Tillman, Dwight Dunn, T. Mac Howard, Carl Clark, William Dunn and the deacons of First Baptist Church.
