James “Tony” Garrett, 61, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the University of MS Medical Center in Jackson. Funeral services are 3 P.M. Sunday, July 24, at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Clayton officiating. Visittion is from 2-3 prior to the service.
Tony was born and raised in Greenwood. Graduated from Greenwood High School and the University of Southern MS with a degree in Wildlife Management. Tony worked for the MS State Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and retired after 28 years of service. He was a Park Manager of several parks including Florewood State Park in Greenwood and Great River Road State Park in Rosedale. Tony was an organ donor and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father James Roy Garrett and is survived by his mother, Shirley Garrett of Greenwood; brother, Cam Garrett (Missy) of Oxford; and his nieces and nephews, John Garrett, Drew Garrett, Mary McCalbe McArthur and Gafford White.
Honorary pallbearers are employees of the MS Dept. of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
