Mr. James A. Belk , 81, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 29, 2024, at his home in Greenwood. Graveside services are 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Odd Fellows East Cemetery. Visitation is from noon -1:30 P.M. at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home.
James was born in Greenwood to Willie A. and Inez Riales Belk. He graduated from Greenwood High School class of 1962, attended MS Delta Community College where he played football and won state championship, then went on to graduate from Delta State University with a B.S. degree.
He was a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church, was a Master Mason, former president of Greenwood Exchange Club, Delta Riders Motor Cycle club, Gumbo Hunting Club and was a member Airport Board. He served as the director of the Greenwood Leflore Civic Center for 22 years.
The widower of Barbara Corder Belk, He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jack Belk, Jimmy Belk and a sister Eloise Cheek. He is survived by one son, Neil Corder Belk (Michelle) of Greenwood, four grandchildren, Matthew Belk of Denton, NC, Katie Belk of Greenwood, Caleb Belk of New Jersey, James Belk (Christine) of Mathiston, MS, and two great grandchildren, William Belk and Koda Belk.

Pallbearers will be Doug Williams, Billy Bryant, Paul Barrentine, Robert Sims, Jr., Mark Belk, and Daniel Patterson. Mike Boolus, Red Bowlin, and Bobby Meadows will serve as an honorary pallbearers.
