Heywood Hodges, 68, passed away Thursday April 22, 2021 at his home in Greenwood. Graveside services are 3 P.M. Sunday, April 25 at Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton with Rev. Lanny Haley officiating.
Heywood was born March 17, 1953 to Lewis R Hodges, Sr. and Genella Sullivan Hodges. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Natalie Jones, sister Rebekah Clanton, and brother Lewis R Hodges Jr.
He is survived by 3 children, daughter Heather (Greg) Jones of Madison, son Heath (Erin) Hodges, and son Hunter (Lindsay) Hodges both of Greenwood; 7 grandchildren Jordan, Marlie and Lizzie Jones, Schaefer, Beck and Adair Hodges and Kaisen Hodges. Sisters Linda Lance and Janet Burden of Greenwood and Ann Harrison of Byram. He is also survived by the mother of his children Phyliss Moore Makamson and a host of nieces and nephews.
Heywood was of the Baptist faith, attended JZ George High School where he was an accomplished athlete in football and track. His love of horses to led to many years of traveling the rodeo and Team Roping circuit where her earned many accolades for his talent in team roping. He also enjoyed rabbit and coon hunting during his lifetime and acquired many lifelong friends from his hobbies. One friend in particular the family would like to thank is Toni Stokes for making his latter-days more enjoyable.
