Miss Hettie Wall Ruscoe, 96, passed away Wednesday December 25, 2024, at Country Meadow Personal Care Home in Greenwood. Funeral services are 11 A.M. Monday, December 30, at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with Rev. David Sullivan officiating. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery on Carrollton Avenue.
Hettie was born in Coila to Herbert C. and Annie Laurie Wall Ruscoe. After finishing high school, Hettie was offered the opportunity to go to college but chose a business course at Draughon’s Business College in Greenwood. Working a short while at Fountains Department Store, one day she relieved on the switchboard and decided that was for her. Hettie applied for work at Bell Telephone Company on Howard Street in Greenwood, and very shortly afterward was called to work. After training two weeks with Shirley Conner’s mother, Stella Campbell, Hettie went to work and stayed on for 35 years and 4 months.
Hettie is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Herb Ruscoe, Ben Ruscoe, Marjorie Lotz and Laurie Wells She is survived by her sister, Nancy Lawson of Huntsville, AL; a sister-in-law, Dianne Ruscoe of Coila and 15 nieces and nephews.

Also Thanks to Danny and Rebecca Edwards, owners, and the terrific and loving caregivers at Country Meadow Personal Care Home in Greenwood for providing a safe and warm place for Hettie to spend her last years.
