Harry Adams was taken by the hand of the Lord to a quieter and gentler place Monday, July 29, 2024, at his home in Morgan City, MS.
Born April 28, 1949, in Manila, Arkansas to Nelson Wade and Mattie Ruth Regan Adams, he was raised at Millican Ridge, AR and attended Millican Ridge School and Manila High School, but graduated from Leflore Count High School in 1967. The family moved to Mississippi in 1965 where he met and married Lynda Fondren. They moved back to Millican Ridge and Lake City, AR for ten years, then returned back to Morgan City to raise catfish. After 30 years of hard work, he retired and enjoyed pursing his hobby of deer hunting , which he was very proficient.
He was an active member of Morgan City Baptist Church until his health failed. Harry was a member and vice president of Carrollton and Pine Hunting Club for over 10 years. They spent deer season at Twin Creeks Hunting Resort in Carroll County and attended church at Centerville Baptist Church while in the hills.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Paul Adams, Dr. George Adams, sister-in-law Kaye Adams, sister-in-law Mary Fondren, nephews Greg Adams and Gene Adams, one great niece Michele Golden and great-great niece Georgie Scott Henderson.
He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Lynda Fondren Adams; a much loved son John Adams (Susan); greatest grandson God could give, Dillon Wade Adams all of Morgan City; two brothers, Robert Adams (Thelma), Jimmy Adams (Connie) both of Manila; sister-in-law Faye Janous (Billy) of Belzoni; several nieces, nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Morgan City Baptist Church 2 P.M. Saturday, August 3, 2024, with Rev. Butch Kelly officiating. Visitation is from 1-2 prior to the service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
