Guy Tate Conway

Guy Tate Conway, 84, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2022 while on a

cruise to South America.

Guy was born on November 8, 1938 to Scott and Arkie Conway in New Albany, MS.

After graduating as Salutatorian from Humphreys High School, he attended Sunflower

Junior College before pursuing a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Mississippi.

For over fifty years, Guy worked as a pharmacist in several locations including Amory,

MS, Medic Pharmacy in Shreveport, LA, and Thompson’s Drugs and Brookshire

Brothers in Lufkin, TX.

Guy spent his retirement years embracing several of his passions; tending his

flower gardens, caring for his rescue dog Honey Boo, exploring history, and traveling

the world.

Guy married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Sue Upchurch, on August 28,1960 at

the First Baptist Church in Itta Bena, MS. They had two children, Whit Conway and wife

Kathy of Seymour, TN with grandsons Devin Conway of East Haven, CT and Taylor

Conway of Seymour, TN and Chris Conway and wife Janine of Stephenville, TX with

grandsons Philip Wiggins and Gabriel Conway of Stephenville, TX.

Guy was preceded in death by his wife Peggy, and his mother and father, Arkie and

Scott Conway.

Guy married Marion Leath Johnson of Greenwood, MS on March 26, 2011. They lived

in Greenwood, MS until 2014 when they relocated to Tupelo, MS. Guy is survived by

his wife, Marion Leath Johnson of Tupelo, MS.

There will be a visitation at the First Baptist Church in Itta Bena, MS at 1:00 p.m. on

Saturday, March 4, 2023 with a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Ricky

Wheat. The interment will immediately follow at the Itta Bena Cemetery.
