Grady Perkins Obituary

Earl Grady Perkins, Jr. 83, passed away peacefully July 20, 2026 at the Baptist Hospital in Oxford with his family by his side after a brief illness.

He was born the son of Earl Grady Perkins, Sr. and Mary Armistead Smith Perkins, September 29 1942, in Greenwood Mississippi.  He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1960 and from Mississippi State University with a Bachelors and Masters degrees in Business Administration.

Grady began his career with General Dynamics in Ft. Worth, Texas, making aircraft for the United States Air Force.  Throughout his career he was known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.  His love for aviation filled his life.  He worked as a pilot for Viking Range Corporation and Wade, Inc.  He was still managing the Wade, Inc, aircraft and hanger.  He owned and operated the local bowling alley and cable company, both started by his father.  He also owned a trophy shop.  He approached every endeavor with dedication, professionalism and a commitment to serving his community.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood and the Lions Club.  He was the manager of the Greenwood Airport for several years and still active with the airport management.

Grady was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Frances Perkins Bowman, and his beloved wife, Linda Frymyer Perkins.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Lynne Petet Perkins and his son Will Perkins, also with extended family and many dear friends who will cherish his memory.

Grady will be remembered for his intelligence, determination, and unwavering devotion to his family.  Whether in his professional life or with those he loved most, he lived with integrity, generosity, and quiet strength.  His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, and the memories shared by those who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Funeral services are 11 A.M. Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Andrew Chaney officiating.  Visitation is in the church parlor prior to the service from 10-11 A.M.

Pallbearers will be James Braxton, Lee Wall, Tom Hardin, Doug Muse, Will Fountain, and Mike Sturdivant.  Honorary pallbearers are Harry Roland, Steve Lary, David Cleland, Stephen Lary, Chad Johnson, and Drew Cleland.

Memorials  may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
