Geraldine (Worley) Newman

Geraldine Worley Newman, 76, passed away Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood, MS.  Graveside services are 11 A.M. Tuesday, July 12 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Grenada, MS.  Rev. Jack Marshall will officiate.

Geraldine was born in Lambert, MS to Roy Richard and Nancy Green Worley.  She was owner and operator of Geraldine’s Beauty Shop in Greenwood for thirty five years. Geraldine truly loved her job and never met a stranger.  She was known for her humorous personality.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John “Randy” Carlton, four brothers and three sisters.    

Mrs. Newman is survived by two daughters, Belinda Kaye Long of Grenada and Amy Lott (Timmy) of Greenwood; two sisters, Ruby Woods of Russellville, AR and Lynda Jordan of Hernando; five grandchildren; Tara Murphy (Andy) of Cleveland, Trey Strong (Kristin) of Carrollton, Natalie Strong of Greenwood, Brooke Thrasher (Preston) of Tupelo and Morgan Lott of Greenwood; four great grandchildren, Mary Hensley Murphy and Ford Murphy of Cleveland, Grace Strong and Kylie Strong both of Carrollton and two great great grandchildren, Alilah Strong and Zaydn Strong both of Carrollton, MS.
