Geraldine Minyard Brewster passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at her home in McCarley MS. Graveside funeral services are set for 11 A.M. Saturday December 23rd at Evergreen Cemetery in Carrollton. The Rev. Leon Holly will officiate.
Geraldine was born to Thomas E. Minyard and Eula Mattie Minyard in Carroll County Mississippi on August 5th 1938. She was educated in Carroll County and graduated from J. Z. George High School in 1956; after which, she completed Secretary and Business School in Greenwood, Mississippi. She spent most of her working years in the Greenwood Public School system; first as a secretary at W.C. Williams School in Greenwood, and then retiring from the Central office. She made lifelong friends with many fellow teachers and employees, as well as the students of W.C. Williams who always fondly remember her loving and kind smile. Geraldine was a member of the Cherokee Rose Garden Club in Carrollton, Mississippi. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and always grew the most beautiful peonies.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years William James Brewster, four brothers: Charles S. Minyard, Earnest H. Minyard, Thomas L. Minyard and James Carlton Minyard.
She is survived by her two children Dayne Brewster (Lisa) of Calhoun City, Janice Floyd (David) of McCarley Mississippi, Two grand-daughters Emily (Matt) Simpson of Quantico, VA, and Jamie (Ethan) Dugar of McCarley, Mississippi, Six great grandchildren, Aiden Simpson, Connor Simpson, Mary Finley Simpson, and Rowan Patrick Simpson, all from Quantico, VA, Amelia Ann Dugar, and William James Dugar of McCarley, Mississippi, and one sister, Shelby Rickles of McCarley, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Simpson, Aiden Simpson, Connor Simpson, Ethan Dugar, William Dugar and J.B. McDonald. Special thanks to the staff of Legacy Hospice for their kind loving care. Memorials may be made to the Semper Fi and Americas Fund or The Muscular Dystrophy Association.
