Itta Bena, MS: Eleanor Green Carroll, 73, passed away Monday morning, March 9, 2020 at her home in Itta Bena surrounded by her family. Funeral services are 11 A.M. Wednesday, March 11 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with interment in Itta Bena cemetery. Rev. Billy Ray Stonestreet will officiate. Visitation if from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday evening at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home
Eleanor was born in Coldwater, MS to Howard and Carolyn Smart Green. She moved to Itta Bena at a very early age and was a lifelong resident there. She graduated from Leflore County High School, MS Delta Community College and the MS University for Women. She retired from the Social Security Administration after 30 plus years of service. She was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. Eleanor loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed spending the day at sporting venues watching her grandchildren play ball.
Eleanor is survived by her husband; Bill Carroll, two sons; Scott Carroll (Christi) of Greenwood, MS, Brad Carroll (Mary Fisher) of Olive Branch, MS, a sister; Peggy Kelly (Terry) of Itta Bena, MS, and five grandchildren; Ann Rivers Carroll and Madeline Carroll both of Greenwood, Allie Carroll, Bradley Carroll and Hayes Carroll all of Olive Branch, MS.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Kelly, Matt Kelly, Chuck Jackson, Matt Howard, Randy Henderson, Leslie Jordan, Brett Freeman and Drew Howard. Jerry Carroll will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
