Edgar Hammons Obituary

Edgar Walton Hammons, 97, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the MS Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko. A memorial service will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Valley Advent Church in The Valley community near Teoc. Visitation is from 10:30 -11 prior to the service.

Edgar was born in Carroll County and resided was a lifelong resident of Carroll County and Greenwood. He attended Valley School in Teoc and served in the US Army during World War II fighting in the European Theater. He worked for a number of years in management and auto sales for Leflore Auto Co, Delta Chevrolet and Chamblee Motors. He was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Carroll County. He was preceded in death by his wives, Jane Clark Hammons and Louise Reichman Hammons and a daughter Mary Ann McCalep.

He is survived by three daughters, Jayne Turner of Leland, Annette Smith Of Grenada. Teresa Wilson of Faiview, Texas; two sons, Edgar W. Hammons, Jr. of Greenwood, Larry Hammons of Carrollton and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
