Dr. Michael Ted Boler, Sr. 69, of Greenwood, MS passed away on the evening of August 23, 2023, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS from a hard-fought battle with leukemia surrounded by his family.  Funeral services are 11 A.M. Monday, August 28 at St. John’s Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Butler officiating.  Visitation is Sunday from 4-6 P.M.  at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home and again from 10-11 A.M. Monday at St John’s.

Mike was born on August 16, 1954, to Buford and Margean Boler of Union, MS. He was raised on chicken and cattle farm in Neshoba County where he learned the meaning of hard work. He attended Union High School where he was elected most athletic, most handsome, and Mr. Union High School before graduating in 1972.

After high school he attended East Central Community College where he lettered in varsity basketball and tennis.  He then transferred to Ole Miss in 1974 to further his education in pharmacy school. At Ole Miss Mike was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and was the campus intramural 3 on 3 basketball campus champion. During this time, he met his wife Sharon Boler during his duties as Pi Beta Phi house boy. Upon completing pharmacy school, he then attended medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He graduated medical school in 1982 and then completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN.

In 1985, he opened an Internal Medicine practice in Greenwood, MS. Along with his beautiful wife,  Sharon, he raised his three children: Michael Jr., Mary Beth, and Baker. He was a devoted father coaching youth soccer and attending all his children’s sporting events through high school and beyond.  He was a member of Kiwanis Club, and he also took on various leadership positions at Greenwood Leflore Hospital and his beloved church St. John’s Methodist Church. He fiercely cared for his patients and continued to work until he could no longer physically do so during his battle with leukemia.

His hobbies included managing his farm in Carroll County and trying to dissuade family and friends from killing his deer and turkey that he enjoyed watching from afar. He was an avid runner competing in a team event at the Heart of Dixie Triathlon at the Neshoba County Fair every year for over 25 years. He was also an avid Ole Miss fan with his two favorite memories being attending Ole Miss beating Alabama in Oxford in 2014 and attending the College World Series in 2022 in Omaha.
