Bro. Dennis McKay passed away at home following a brief illness on Friday April 12,2024. Services will be Monday April 15,2024 at 11:00 am at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home Chapel. His sons Bryan and Brad McKay along with Bro. Danny Irvin will speak. Bro. Dustin Long will officiate graveside services. Intermittent will be at North Mississippi Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Kilmicheal. Visitation will be 4-6 P.M. Sunday at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home.
Bro .Dennis was born to Press and Margaret Conner McKay on February 9,1948. He graduated from Leflore County High School, Mississippi College, and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master’s of Divinity Degree. Bro.McKay served as pastor at churches in Missouri, South Mississippi, Carrollton and Greenwood where Vine Life Fellowship was under his pastorate for 15 years. He was member of Crestview Baptist Church. He was also a Vietnam War veteran serving in the U S Army. He was a member of the Micheal Ball VFW Post 12191 in Carrollton and former member of American Legion Post 52 in Winona where he served as chaplain.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sue Sumerall McKay, sons Bryan (Lia),Brad (Gail), five grandchildren, Kaylin McKay, Caleb McKay, Laine McKay, Riley McKay, Courtney Smith; 2 step-grandchildren, Cayla Wiley, Cari Barefoot and four great grandchildren. One sister Jo Long and a host of nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by his parents. , brothers Preston and Leon McKay, sister Thelma Young and niece Robin McKay.
The pallbearers will be Tim McKay , Press McKay, Wes Little, Dusty Jones, Tony Carpenter and Bill Herod. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Carpenter, Bobby Bennett, Allen Fox and Billy Karolyi.
The family would like to thank Dr. William Harper and Legacy Hospice for their care and support during his time of illness.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to Micheal Ball VFW Post P.O. Box 292 North Carrollton MS 38947 or a charity of their choice.
