David Wallace “Buddy” Elmore, 71, passed from his earthly body on June 5, 2026, with his wife and son by his side as he left for his heavenly home.
Funeral services will be 5 P.M. Monday, June 22 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Flautt officiating. There will be a visitation from 4-5 P.M. prior to the Service at the funeral home.
David was born to Alex and Jessie Elmore in Greenwood. He graduated from Greenwood High School and joined the MS Army National Guard and faithfully served 8 years. He worked for Norris Bookbinding for 25 years as a bookbinder. He was an NHRA drag racing champion and thoroughly adored the sport. He was also an entrepreneur. He enjoyed time with his family, loved Oxford, anything and everything Ole Miss, and especially enjoyed attending the football games.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Daniel Shurden Elmore and Ronald Leon Elmore. He is survived by his devoted wife, Phillis Alderman Elmore; a son, David William Alexander Elmore of Madison; Step-Daughter, Pamela Gregg Horne (Joey) of Sidon; a Brother, Ralph Elmore (Missy) of Brandon; mother-in-law, Eula Alderman of Greenwood; sister-in-law, Marie Elmore of Carrollton; four grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Greenwood Lefore Humane Society or the charity of donor’s choice.
