David Browning, 66, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at his home in Greenwood. Visitation is Thursday, February 5th from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home. There will be a private family service.
David was born in Jackson to Paul and Valeria Browning in Jackson, MS and moved to Greenwood at an early age. He graduated from Greenwood High School, where he played trumbone in the high school band, and attended MS Delta Community College. He worked as a DJ for many years, later worked as a salesman for Kirk Brothers, and as a carpenter.
David was a gifted musician who could play several instruments including trumbone, guitar, bass guitar, and drums. He played in several bands, most notably “The Casuals,” “ Mississippi Rain,” and with his brother, Tony in the “Browning Brothers”. His hobbies included music and woodworking. He was a member of Valley Hill Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Browning. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Amanda Walker Browning; two sons, Douglas Browning and William Browning (Jamie) both of Tampa, Florida and a brother, Tony Browning, Sr. of Grenada.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Hunt, Chad Wilson, Matt Hancock, William Browning, and Douglas Browning.
Memorials may be made to Valley Hill Baptist Church.
