Darnell Teal Perkins, 51 passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Funeral services are 11 A.M. Wednesday, September27, at North Greenwood Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Phillips officiating. Interment in is Odd Fellows East. Visitation is from 9-11 prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Darnell was born to David and Linda Crowell Teal in Greenwood. She graduated from Cruger Tchula High School and attended Delta State University. Darnell had worked for Fred T. Neely & Company as the office manager and bookkeeper for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of North Greenwood Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir and Praise Team.
She was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and daughter who enjoyed spending time with her family, being outdoors, going on trips and snuggles from her four legged fur babies. She also enjoyed cooking and growing flowers.
Darnell was preceded in death by her father David Teal and her mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and John Perkins. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Brad Perkins; her son, Justin Perkins (Sarah Grace) of Vaiden; her daughter, Blaire Hester (Jonathan) of Starkville; her mother, Linda Teal of Sidon; a sister, Dena McDonald (Brian) of Madison; a brother, John David Teal (Starr) of Carrollton; her grandchild, Ann Bradley Perkins of Vaiden and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David McDonald, Kelly Sykes, Colby Carpenter, Ross Carpenter, Glenn “Goonie” Carpenter and Jonathan Jones. Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Fred T. Neely and Company and Heath Killebrew.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, North Greenwood Baptist Church Music Ministry or the charity of donor’s choice.
