Danny Duren Westerfield

Danny Duren Westerfield, age 64, of Greenwood, MS, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Born in Greenwood on May 13, 1962, Danny was the son of the late David Virgil Hinds Westerfield and Bettye Joyce Henderson Westerfield Lamb. He grew up in the Phillipston and Greenwood areas, attending Cruger-Tchula Academy and East Elementary before graduating from Greenwood High School. Danny honorably served his country as a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard. A dedicated and hardworking professional, he spent 15 years as a long-haul truck driver for J & L Trucking. He later worked with Westerfield Plumbing before successfully opening his own business, Danny’s Plumbing Service. Danny took immense pride in his craftsmanship and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, boating, and competing in local fishing tournaments.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Christy Lynn Williams Westerfield of Greenwood, MS; his children, Jennifer Blair Westerfield Bruce (Jeff) of Carrollton, MS, Aubrey Daniel Westerfield (Sandi) of Black Hawk, MS, and Robert Earnest Westerfield (Michelle) of Grenada, MS; and his step-children, Tristan Helton (Tommy Richardson) and Zane Melton, both of Hot Springs, AR. He also leaves behind his brother, Tony Westerfield (Lori) of Greenwood, MS; six grandchildren, Sarah Alizabeth Westerfield, Ainslie Blair Bruce, Braylee Christian Marie Westerfield, Hunter Westerfield, Kaeli Westerfield , Emalie Marie Bruce; two great-grandchildren Rosemary Richardson, and Presley Turner; his niece, Anna Claire Westerfield; a great-niece and great-nephew, Liam Westerfield and Emily Campbell; and a host of beloved cousins. He also leaves his terrier dog Jazmine.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Itta Bena Cemetery, with Reverend Roy Bush officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Jackie Sims, Chad Killebrew, Bret Jones, Heath Hodges, Spence Griffin, and Bobby Anderson. Honorary pallbearers include Richard Elliott, Dana Jackson, Cam Oswalt, Jason Walker, Earl Smith, and the members of the 82 Bass Angler Trail Members.
