Cynthia Bennett Obituary

Cindy J. Bennett, 64 passed away November 16, 2024, at St Dominic Hospital in Jackson.  Services are 2 P.M. Tuesday, November 19, at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Longview cemetery in Carroll County. Rev. Lanny Haley and Rev. Patrick Collins will officiate.  Visitation is from 12:00 till service at the funeral home.

Cindy was born in Tacoma, Washington to Bettye Tingle and Bryan Hightower Jackson.  She moved to Greenwood at an early age, graduated from Pillow Academy, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Delta Sate University in 1981 and her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Mississippi in 1988.

Cindy provided Speech-Language therapy in a variety of settings including nursing homes, schools, and also private practice.  Cindy always said her greatest accomplishment and reward from her work was to see her patients achieve their goals and pass their milestones.  Cindy retired in 2008 due to disability.

When able, Cindy loved all things arts and crafts related.  She loved working in the yard and garden.  She was gifted in calligraphy, playing piano, and sewing.  Cindy was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Teoc. She was a member of the Greenwood Junior Auxiliary. 

Cindy was highly intelligent.  She was very caring and welcoming to all.  Cindy’s greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband, Bobby Bennett of Avalon, children, Andrew Bennett (Anna) of Cleveland, MS, Brian Bennett (Tori) of Grenada, MS, Jonathan Bennett (Candice) of Carrollton, MS; grandchildren, Clark Calloway Bennett of Cleveland, Chandler Jackson “Jack” Bennett of Cleveland, Lyra Elise Bennett of Grenada, Lilly Anne Bennett of Carrollton, Codie Elizabeth-Ann “Liza” Bennett of Cleveland; a sister Jody Lucas (Danny) of Carrollton, MS and a brother, Alan Bryan Jackson of Avalon, MS. 

Pallbearers will be Alan Jackson, Paul Ingram, Robert Ingram, Robert Morman, James Vickers, and Will Kuykendall.  Clinton Kuykendall will be an honorary pallbearer. 

Memorials may be made to the Winona Animal Advocacy Group.

The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to AccentCare Home Health Services for their exemplary customer service and dedication to Cindy’s Care.  They also wish to extend a special thanks to Tracie Stanford and Mindy Smith for providing care during her time of illness the past few months.  “We couldn’t have made it with out all of your support."
