Charles Clayton Cooper, 87, passed away peacefully Friday January 6, 2023. Charles was born in
Greenwood, Mississippi, on February 20, 1935, to the late Cleo Clayton Cooper and Ann Schwem Cooper and was raised in Greenwood. He was married to the late Diana Dubard for over 50 years. He graduated from Greenwood High School and Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. While at MSU he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Following graduation, Charles worked at Supreme Electronics for over twenty years where he was promoted to Senior Vice President. He continued his career as Parts and Service Manager at Stribling Clements Caterpillar for several years before moving to his last job as Senior Procurement Officer for Boeing. Part of his job description included complete operational maintenance of all things Boeing on Air Force One, which is based at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington DC.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 9, at 11:00 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 511 W. Washington Street Greenwood, MS 38930. Visitation is from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to Mass.
Survivors include his sister, JoAnne Cooper Vansuch, sons Charles Jr. (Elizabeth), David “Bo” (Laura), and daughter Catherine Dunn (Billy), grandchildren Clayton Dunn, Chandler Cooper (Erin Ashley), Cooper Dunn (Anna), Lawson Cooper (Crista), David Cooper Jr. and Caroline Cooper. He is also survived by his nephews and niece Greg Vansuch (Diane), David Vansuch (Seth) and Ellen Meehan (Mike).
