Billy E. Fondren, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Coila, Tuesday, April 28, 2020 surrounded by his family. A private family graveside service will be held Thursday, April 30 at Sidon Cemetery with Rev Edward Saunders officiating.
Billy was born in the Berclair community, April 19, 1932 to Gene and Lula Mae Jenkins Fondren. He had been a lifelong resident of the Leflore/Carroll county area. He worked for 32 years for Coca Cola, retiring in 1992 as an assistant sales manager. Billy was an avid outdoorsman, loved to fish and hunt and was a member of the Blackhawk hunting club. He also loved carpentry work but most of all loved spending time with his family. Mr. Fondren was a member of the Sidon United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Kathleen Fondren Henderson, Mary Ann Hodges and a brother; Glenn Harris Fondren. He is survived by his wife, Anne King Fondren, a daughter; Melanie Fondren Newman (Jimbo) of Coila, two grandchildren; Morgan Newman Richardson (Cody) of Greenwood, James Colby Newman (Megan) of Coila, and four great grandchildren; Stella Marie Richardson, James Rhett Richardson both of Greenwood, Emmons Ann Newman and James Nathaniel Newman both of Coila.
The family wishes to offer a special word of thanks to Dr. Charles Nause, the entire staff of Leflore Rehab at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, and his caretakers; Josephine West, Emma Thompson, Chrissy Whitfield and Sandra Prescott.
