Billy C. Floyd, 83, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Riverview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Greenwood. Memorial services are 11 A.M. Saturday, February 5, at First United Methodist church. Rev. Dennis Gossett will officiate. Visitation is from10-11 prior to the service.
Billy was born in Alva to William Clarence and Fannie Mae Floyd. He was raised in Cruger and Duck Hill areas. Billy served in the U.S. Air Force after High School. He worked for Star Taylors, Phil's Squire Shop and later was the owner of Mr. Hank’s Men's Shoppe. He also worked for Short Street Realty before becoming a self-employed painter. He had a passion for golf and after retirement rarely missed playing with the 1 o'clock group at Leflore County Country Club where he was a longtime member. He also enjoyed bowling and fishing and loved playing dominoes. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on the landscape committee for many years.
Billy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Campbell Floyd; a son, Billy C. "Chuck" Floyd, Jr. (Tammy) of Leesburg, MS; Two grandchildren, Madison Pitts (Corey) of Waynesboro, MS and Kristen Harrell (Matt) of Memphis, TN; three great-grandchildren, Maison Odom, Jozi Odom, and Tinley Odom, all of Waynesboro, MS. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial may be made to First United Methodist Church or charity of choice.
